ABSTRACT:
Radiotherapy in cancer treatment is one of the invaluable method adopted to kill the cancerous cells. However the harmful effects of radiation both immediate and long-term may damage the local tissues. Poor wound healing following radiotherapy is very common problem faced by cancer patients. Berberi species have variety of medicinal uses such as antimicrobial, antibacterial, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory till now a days. Keeping this in view the present study was designed to compare the wound healing potential of Berberis tinctoria and Berberis aristata root extracts by scratch assay method.The study reveals that both the species of Berberis posses potent wound healing activity and further could be safely used an effective natural wound healing for cancer radiotherapy.
