ABSTRACT:
Wound healing is a complex biological process that involves a series of coordinated events, and the search for effective and versatile treatment modalities remains a paramount concern. Centella asiatica, commonly known as Gotu Kola, has garnered significant attention for its purported wound healing properties. This review systematically explores the existing literature on the diverse facets of Centella Asiatica's role in wound healing, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of its therapeutic potential. The review encompasses an analysis of the phytochemical composition of Centella asiatica, emphasizing key compounds such as triterpenoids, asiaticoside, and Asiatic acid. These bioactive constituents have been linked to various mechanisms that contribute to the acceleration of wound healing, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and fibroblast-stimulating, scleroderma, and Psoriasis effects. The intricate interplay of these mechanisms suggests a holistic approach to wound management.
