ABSTRACT:
Elaeocarpus ganitrus traditionally known as rudraksha, is a devout plant based on therapeutic religious, spiritual importance in traditinal system of medicine. we can call it as king of herbal medicine, which belonging to family Elaeocarpaceae. In india it is found in himalayn region and also in gangatic region. rudraksha has made remarkable position in ayurveda and hinduism. rudraksha is used to get ease from various conditions like hypertension, anxiety, epilepsy, migraine, depression, palpitation, nerve pain, asthma, arthritis and liver disease. By mythological manner and according to ayurvedic medicine system wearing rudraksha reflects a positive effects on heart and nerves. ayurveda also graded rudraksha as thermogenic, sedative, cough alleviator and are useful for the treatment of bronchitis, neuralgia, cephalagia, anorexia, migraine, manic conditions and other brain disorders. The present review is an effort to assemble the pharmacological potential of Eleaocarpus ganitrus.
